EVOTION presented to European Federation of Environmental Health
November 8th, Dr. Niels Pontoppidan from Eriksholm Research Centre, Oticon presented outcomes of the project to the members of the European Federation of Environmental Health at their meeting in Liverpool, UK. Also present from EVOTION was Dr. Dario Brdaric from Institute of Public Health for the Osijek-Baranya County who is the secretary for the European Federation of Environmental Health.
The partners in EVOTION from Nofer Institute of Occupational Health Medicine (Poland), Biomedical Engineering Lab – ICCS (Greece) and Oticon (Denmark) has worked on predicting occurrences and level of temporary threshold shifts that occur after exposure to too loud noise for too long. EVOTION has gathered data from every day life, rock concerts and public transportation systems to quantify the impact of noise on hearing health. So far we can conclude that the data collected in EVOTION and the methods implemented on the EVOTION platform provide insight that could help individuals prevent noise induced hearing loss and help policy makers understand the impact of noise in the society.
